About Me

Born and raised in New York City, my family instilled the value of relationships and a strong work ethic in me. My parents, Italian immigrants who never finished high school, arrived in the United States in the 1950’s with very little and without speaking the language. Through the support of their community and pure determination, they achieved extraordinary success fulfilling the American Dream, demonstrating to my two sisters and me that goals can be fulfilled through dedication and commitment in an environment that fosters success. My parents taught me to be resourceful and respect all of those around me, as help may come from the least apparent places. To this day, this impacts not only my approach to raising my two children, a son and a daughter, but also how I interact with others and practice medicine. Through mutual support from nurses and staff around me, guided by a shared vision of compassion and caring, I hope to provide the best care to those in my charge.

The field of brain and spine oncology is changing rapidly as we learn more about the disease, leading to new, state-of-the-art therapies and diagnostic tools that were inconceivable when I started to practice medicine. While at Ohio State University for over ten years, I was able to be a part of this evolution and experience the development of technology in an academic institution. Though it is easy to focus on technology, I strongly believe that in order to most effectively care for a person you must be aware of all facets of the patient experience. I prioritize quality of life in my assessments and make treatment recommendations accordingly. I value patient and caregiver education and respect their ability to participate in the discussion and decision-making process. I also believe in the importance of the team, as the care I deliver is only as good as those around me. My goal during every visit is to minimize “business” and foster a casual, informal environment in which to interact.

I am very appreciative of the opportunities afforded me throughout my entire life. As such, it is important that I give back. Whether coaching baseball, volunteering at the animal shelter or working through my church, I hope to make my community a better place. Furthermore, I hope to provide my kids with an example that will shape them into good people who make a positive impact in the future.
