Catherine Smith, MD

Dr. Smtih is a board-certified infectious disease specialist, who has practiced in both in-patient and out-patient settings for over a decade. She first became interested in infectious diseases while working with groups that helped to provide specialized medical attention to people in areas with limited access to care. Dr. Smith continues to enjoy treating the broad diversity of conditions that are associated with this specialty and helping people from all backgrounds improve their quality of life. About Me

I moved from the Northeast to Jacksonville in 2013, and although I still miss the snow, I continue to appreciate Jacksonville's sunshine and the ability to spend all year outdoors being active. I enjoy swimming, biking, hiking and have started running - despite not being very good at it yet!

I think that when caring for patients, the most crucial thing a physician can do is listen. I try and make sure that a patient has all the information needed to make informed decisions about their care, and feel confident enough to ask questions and advocate for themselves. Ultimately, I think trust between patients and their providers is essential and I strive to establish relationships with my patients in which they feel comfortable and empowered.
