Laurel Cantrell, MD, FAAFP, is a full-scope family medicine physician with extensive experience caring for patients through every stage of life, from prenatal care and newborn medicine to complex adult and inpatient care. After serving as a military physician and educator for the last several years, she chose to remain in Jacksonville to continue serving the community she calls home. Patients appreciate her comprehensive, relationship-centered approach and her special interests in women’s health, obesity medicine, preventive care and office-based procedures.

About Me

After serving as a Navy physician, I decided to stay in Jacksonville because it truly felt like home. When I’m not caring for patients, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children, sharing a meal with friends, being outdoors, traveling, trying new restaurants and enjoying the Florida sunshine.

I am passionate about helping people better understand their health and feel comfortable asking questions and participating in decisions about their care. Strong communication and trust are essential to good medicine. I value connection, balance and bringing a compassionate, down-to-earth approach to both medicine and everyday life.

To give back to the medical community, I continue to lecture with local residency programs and write articles for medical journals.
