I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania and appreciate the sense of community I find every day in Nocatee. During my bike ride commute to the office, I love saying, “Hello” to patients. As the parents of three young children, my husband and I enjoy the outdoors through kayaking, hiking and gardening. We also attend many of the family-friendly activities in Nocatee.
Family medicine goes beyond primary care for the individual. It’s about relationships and caring for entire families across multiple generations, and is the heart and soul of the medical field. Family physicians provide something intangible and unquantifiable, which algorithms cannot match. It’s knowing the person behind the disease and adapting treatment plans that best suit the patient. Understanding how lifestyle and environmental factors impact well-being and looking beyond symptoms is central to my approach to patient care.
As a member of Baptist Physician Partners, I lead an interdisciplinary Weight Loss Solutions Committee that advocates for obesity treatment coverage and creates continuing medical education for Baptist physicians on the topic of obesity.
