Allison Courson, APRN

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Allison Courson, APRN, followed in the footsteps of her grandmother wanting to care for those in need, especially those with cancer. Allison lost her uncle and both grandfathers to cancer just before she graduated from nursing school in 2009. This sparked her desire to become an oncology nurse. In 2013, after gaining experience in the fields of cardiology, family practice, and travel medicine, Allison was given the opportunity to enter the oncology field as a chemotherapy nurse. She continued in this role while studying to further her career in this specialization. She transitioned to her new role as a nurse practitioner with a continued focus in hematology/oncology in 2016. Allison has expertise in both inpatient and outpatient settings and enjoys managing a variety of patient concerns from routine visits to the most medically complex. Her areas of expertise include monitoring patient conditions, prescribing and administering chemotherapy, performing bone marrow biopsies and asp

About Me

I love spending time with my husband, daughter and our dog, Pepper. I also enjoy traveling, fishing and sports. I am a huge Florida State Seminole fan, although I do root for the Florida Gators on occasion as I have family on the softball team. Ultimately, my favorite thing to do is watch my own daughter play softball.

I have always been passionate about caring for those in need. Having suffered the loss of numerous family members to cancer, I made it my goal to one day become an oncology nurse. No one wants to be sitting in an oncology office, but I want to make it as easy as possible for them and their family while they are there.

As healthcare continues to update and change seemingly every day, you have to be on top of your game to provide patients with the best care possible. One of my main focuses is to make sure the patient and their family understand their options in order to make an informed decision regarding their treatment. I want to arm them with the knowledge necessary to get through the process. I feel as though my most important role is cheerleader some days, but if that's what it takes to get them better, then I'll be their cheerleader every day!
